City of Atwater issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.
Everyone should make plans to attend ACGC’s upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the MGM movie of the same title. Production dates are Saturday, November 23rd @ 7:00 p.m. and Sunday November 24th @ 2:00 p.m.
Every ACGC production in recent years has had a transformation scene; The Wizard of Oz has many – from Kansas to Munchkinland to the Emerald City to the lair of the Wicked Witch of the West, and then the same in reverse. It truly takes an amazing group of people to bring this show to life and to accomplish the task of taking the audience on an adventure that pays homage to the original L. Frank Baum’s original 1900 classic book and MGM’s 1939 movie.
ACGC is keeping the ARTS ALIVE with the assistance of an amazing crew of parental volunteers, along with a set crew of 10 students, a cast of 25 students and a live orchestra that will bring to life these iconic characters for our community to enjoy. The show is under the acting direction of Mr. Rosengren, the vocal direction of Mr. Sorenson, the orchestral direction of Mr. Canavan and the set artistry of Ms. Tantilla.
