LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICE: Seeking Volunteers To Connect With Older Minnesotans

Volunteering

Lutheran Social Service issued the following announcement on July 10.

We're now seeking volunteers to connect with older Minnesotans! Our Caregiver AmeriCorps volunteers give family caregivers a break to run errands, visit with friends, rest and recharge. By giving just a few hours each week, you can get to know someone new and make a big difference.

Visits are now being done virtually through video chat and phone calls due to Covid-19. (They can transition to in person visits later when it is safe to do so.) Volunteers receive training and no caregiving experience is required.

Thanks to our partnership with AmeriCorps, volunteers receive a monthly living allowance of $150-250 and can earn an education grant of $1,300-1,600 to pay for college. If you are over 55, your grant can be given to a child or grandchild.

You can get started by calling 866.787.9802 or visit lssmn.org/volunteernow to learn more.
