COUNTY OF OTTER TAIL: Have you ever wondered what these signs really mean?

Signboard

County Of Otter Tail issued the following announcement on Jul 24.

Have you ever wondered what these signs really mean?

The first sign is what must be done after removing your boat from the water. Remove aquatic plants, zebra mussels, and other prohibited invasives then drain lake water away from the ramp. One good reminder on the sign is its illegal to transport watercraft with the drain plug in.

The second sign is an infested waters sign. These signs are posted on their own post, as close to the ramp as possible, informing that this waterbody is infested with an invasive species.

The last signage is a system called an I-LIDS or Internet Landing Installed Device Sensor. It consists of a motion activated camera, a magnetic field sensor, a cellular radio, and a solar panel. When the system detects motion and a magnetic field, it plays a prerecorded message reminding boaters to clean drain and dry. We have 16 I-LIDS located at high traffic accesses across the County.
