City Of Moorhead issued the following announcement on Jan. 13.
The City of Moorhead is accepting applications for a Building Inspector (Apprenticeship) in the Neighborhood Community Services Department.
The goal of the Building Inspector Apprenticeship is to provide knowledge and enhance career preparedness in the building inspection field by providing mentorship, training and classes with the goal to become a Limited Building Official with the City of Moorhead. The apprenticeship is funded by the State of Minnesota for one year and made possible by a generous grant by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
Objectives:• Collaborate within the Building Inspection Team on plan reviews, inspections and identifying and addressing code compliance concerns. • Build relationships and gain experience in multiple areas within the building inspections field.• Gain expertise by attending multiple training courses to become well-versed in building, mechanical and plumbing inspections and reviews. Training courses and related travel are paid by the City.
Requirements:• High school diploma or GED• Valid driver’s license• Two years’ experience in the building construction, building design, building code enforcement, or related field.• Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office products
It is preferred, but not required, that applicants have one or more of the following:• Vocational or trade school diploma (or higher) in building, construction, architectural, mechanical, or plumbing systems• One or more years’ experience in the installation or design of mechanical systems• One or more years’ experience in the installation or design of plumbing systems
Salary/pay rate: $25/hour, full timeHours: Full time with benefits. Monday through Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm. Flexible. This position will work inside and outside.
