City Of Moorhead issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.
After a major snow event, the City of Moorhead’s Street Division is very busy clearing streets as quickly and efficiently as possible. But did you know that the crews are continuously dealing with snow long after the storm is over and initial cleanup is completed? On a regular basis, crews:
• Run daily maintenance routes to widen the roads -- ideally back to the curb, if possible. • Round off corners to improve visibility.• Haul snow from downtown and numerous problem areas along major roadways. • Monitor and apply sand or salt, when necessary.
During a Minnesota winter, keeping our streets open is a full-time job for these crews, who work through the nights, on weekends and on holidays when winter weather hits. Thank you to the Streets and Parks Maintenance crews for working to keep the City’s 500+ miles of roads and 50 miles of paths as clear as possible!
