CITY OF MOORHEAD: Effective immediately, City of Moorhead residents should stop putting glass into blue recycling bins.

Bin

City Of Moorhead issued the following announcement on Feb. 28.

Effective immediately, City of Moorhead residents should stop putting glass into blue recycling bins.

Why the change? According to Minnkota Recycling – which handles the City of Moorhead’s recycling after it is collected – glass has become too expensive to recycle, creates safety issues in the recycling process, and contaminates the recycling stream.

There are two options for residents:1. Take glass to glass-only dumpsters (Woodlawn Point, 418 Elm St; Public Works Shop, 700 15 Ave N; or the Resource Recovery Center, 3322 15 Ave N)  2. Put it in the regular gray trash bin.

Thank you for helping keep glass out of the recycling stream!

Questions? Please contact the City of Moorhead Public Works Department at 218.299.5347.
