How many Wheaton Area Public School District students took their MCA and MTAS Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Wheaton Area Public School District ranked first in the Traverse County for test participation, with 175 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Wheaton Area Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year remained unchanged from the previous year.

Wheaton Area Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 50% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 17% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 46% not meeting the expected standards.

Wheaton Area Public School District encompasses schools within Traverse County and has a main office in Wheaton.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
