Were students of Rothsay Public School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Math testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

Rothsay Public School District ranked second in the Wilkin County for test participation, with 160 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Rothsay Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 2.6% over the previous year.

Rothsay Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 57% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 33% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 22% not meeting the expected standards.

Rothsay Public School District encompasses schools within Wilkin County and has a main office in Rothsay.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
