Battle Lake Public School District students performance on MCA and MTAS in 2021-22 school year?

Battle Lake Public School District ranked sixth in the Otter Tail County for test participation, with 216 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Battle Lake Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 5.9% over the previous year.

Battle Lake Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 63% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 32% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, fourth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 25% not meeting the expected standards.

Battle Lake Public School District encompasses schools within Otter Tail County and has a main office in Battle Lake.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
