How did New York Mills Public School District students do on 2021-22 MCA and MTAS Math tests?

New York Mills Public School District ranked third in the Otter Tail County for test participation, with 383 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of New York Mills Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 6.1% over the previous year.

New York Mills Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 53% in 2021-22 school year.

Eighth grade students stood out with 32% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 38% not meeting the expected standards.

New York Mills Public School District encompasses schools within Otter Tail County and has a main office in New York Mills.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
