How did Underwood Public School District students do on 2021-22 MCA and MTAS Reading tests?

Underwood Public School District ranked fourth in the Otter Tail County for test participation, with 309 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Underwood Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 2.3% over the previous year.

Underwood Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 44% in 2021-22 school year.

Eighth grade students stood out with 12% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, seventh grade students had the most room for improvement, with 46% not meeting the expected standards.

Underwood Public School District encompasses schools within Otter Tail County and has a main office in Underwood.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
