MCA and MTAS: How many Ortonville Public School District students took their Math tests in 2021-22 school year?

Ortonville Public School District ranked first in the Big Stone County for test participation, with 266 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Ortonville Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 9.5% over the previous year.

Ortonville Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 52% in 2021-22 school year.

Fourth grade students stood out with 38% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 36% not meeting the expected standards.

Ortonville Public School District encompasses schools within Big Stone County and has a main office in Ortonville.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
