Hawley Public School District students performance on MCA and MTAS in 2021-22 school year?

Hawley Public School District ranked first in the Clay County for test participation, with 514 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Hawley Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 1.8% over the previous year.

Hawley Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 59% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 36% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 21% not meeting the expected standards.

Hawley Public School District encompasses schools within Clay County and has a main office in Hawley.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
