Ulen-Hitterdal Public School District secures third spot in student Math test participation in 2021-22 school year

Ulen-Hitterdal Public School District ranked third in the Clay County for test participation, with 155 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Ulen-Hitterdal Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 3.7% from the previous year.

Ulen-Hitterdal Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 45% in 2021-22 school year.

Seventh grade students stood out with 18% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 47% not meeting the expected standards.

Ulen-Hitterdal Public School District encompasses schools within Clay County and has a main office in Ulen.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
