Census Bureau: 1.4% of people in Chippewa County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 12,509 citizens living in Chippewa County in 2021, 98.6% said they were only one race, while 1.4% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Chippewa County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 87.8% or 10,980 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Chippewa County is 3.2% lower than the state average, which stands at 4.6%.
