Wilkin County: 0.8% more students were enrolled in 2024-25 school year

There were 1,025 students enrolled in Wilkin County schools in the 2024-25 school year, 0.8% more than the previous year, according to reports from the Minnesota Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Wilkin County comprised 54.7% boys, with girls representing the remaining 45.3%.

Data also showed that white students made up 82.5% of the student body, the largest percentage in Wilkin County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 7.7%, 5.8% American Indian students, 3.1% multiracial students, 0.6% Black students, 0.2% Asian students and 0.1% Hawaiian Pacific Islander students.

Breckenridge Middle/High School had the highest enrollment among Wilkin County's six schools in the 2024-25 school year, welcoming 311 students.

With more than 870,000 students enrolled, Minnesota's public school system is the 10th-largest in the United States. As of 2025 the student-to-teacher ratio in the state’s public schools is 15 to 1, on par with the national average.
