Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to identify and prosecute those responsible.

Rep. Mary Franson issued a statement following the news of Kirk's death. She said, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the news that Charlie Kirk was assassinated at his event in Utah yesterday. I pray that we remember Charlie for his courage to engage with those who disagreed with him and for his unwavering commitment to the truth he believed in. He was met with unthinkable violence while he worked diligently to encourage civil conversation. My heart goes out to his wife, Erika, their children, and everyone who has been impacted by this horrific act.”

Kirk’s work focused on encouraging discussion among people with differing views through events such as the one where the attack occurred.
