The city of Appleton has been awarded a $1.2 million grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The funds, distributed through the Small Cities Development Program, will support two key projects in Appleton.

Half of the grant will be used for the rehabilitation of up to 42 multi-family housing units. The remaining $600,000 is allocated for storm water conveyance and street improvements.

State Representative Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck, commented on the significance of this funding. “Appleton has had some challenging times these past 15 years and it’s nice to see help coming from the state for these projects,” Anderson said. “This is really good news not only because these important improvements will be completed, but because the city’s taxpayers will be spared the cost. Congratulations to everyone who was involved in submitting this successful grant request for the people of Appleton.”
