Rep. Michelle Fischbach, who has represented Minnesota’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, used her social media platform on October 8, 2025, to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and recognize local manufacturing achievements.
In a post published early that day, Fischbach wrote, "The priority should be the American people. Instead, Senate Democrats are keeping the government shut down because they want FREE healthcare for illegal immigrants." (October 8, 2025). Later, she highlighted the impact of the shutdown on federal employees: "A list of some of the people working without pay during the Democrat-led government shutdown. These people work to keep us safe, yet they are not being paid right now." (October 8, 2025).
Fischbach also acknowledged local manufacturing success within her district by congratulating Polaris for winning a state business contest: "One of #MN07's own was named the winner of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and BMO's 'Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota' contest. Congratulations to Polaris on the MRZR's win! This is just another example of the American manufacturing we have right here in the Seventh District," (October 8, 2025).
Michelle Fischbach succeeded Collin Peterson as representative for Minnesota’s 7th district in 2021 and previously served in the Minnesota Senate from 2017 to 2018. She was born in Woodbury, Minnesota in 1965 and currently resides in Regal. Fischbach holds a BA from St. Cloud State University and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
