On October 9, 2025, Fischbach posted, "The cost is being passed on to every American." The following day, she addressed the actions of Senate Democrats during the shutdown: "Senate Democrats have voted SEVEN times to keep the government shut down and to NOT pay our troops and federal workers.

Michelle Fischbach began representing Minnesota’s 7th congressional district in January 2021 after succeeding Collin Peterson. Before joining Congress, she served in the Minnesota Senate from 2017 to 2018. Born in Woodbury, Minnesota in 1965 and currently residing in Regal, Fischbach holds a BA from St. Cloud State University (1989) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (2011).
