Representative Cal Warwas of Clinton Township has responded to the Minnesota Supreme Court's recent decision regarding a powerlifting case. In a statement released on Wednesday, Warwas said, "Today’s Supreme Court decision is a step in the wrong direction and will have real consequences for female athletes across Minnesota. Title IX is about safety, fairness, and preserving a level playing field in women’s sports. I remain committed to addressing this in the upcoming legislative session, standing proudly to promote HF12 alongside Representative Natalie Zeleznikar and the entire Republican caucus. We must ensure that our state policies reflect genuine support for girls and women in athletics."
House File 12 and House File 1233, which aimed to address the issues highlighted by the court's decision, were previously rejected along party lines. Both pieces of legislation remain available for consideration when the Minnesota House reconvenes on February 17, 2026.
