This week, the House Capital Investment Committee, led by Co-Chair Mary Franson, will start a three-day tour across the Twin Cities metropolitan area. This event marks the committee’s fifth and final regional bonding tour of the year. The purpose is to review proposed projects and listen to local officials and community leaders about infrastructure, transportation, and public service needs in Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, Dakota, and Anoka Counties.

The itinerary includes visits to several sites in each county. In Hennepin County, lawmakers will stop at locations such as the Hennepin County Behavioral Health Center, Avivo and St. David’s Center facilities, Northwest Metro Regional Athletic Facility in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin Technical College, City of Plymouth Center Redevelopment, Ridgedale Fire Station in Minnetonka, Panoway on Wayzata Bay, and Normandale Community College in Bloomington.

In Ramsey County, stops include Mill City Museum, Ordway Center for Performing Arts, CHS Field improvements, Metro State University, as well as presentations on infrastructure projects like the RiverCentre Convention complex and Roy Wilkins Auditorium.

Washington County visits will cover Newport inflow and infiltration upgrades; Oak Park Heights and Stillwater PFAS water treatment projects; Ravine Regional Park in Cottage Grove; and trail connections along CSAH 5 and Stonebridge Trail.

In Dakota County, the committee will visit Mendota Heights Public Safety and City Hall; West St. Paul DHS Crisis Recovery Center; along with various water and infrastructure projects throughout the southern metro area.

For Anoka County, planned stops include Metro Regional Treatment Center in Anoka; Rogers Main Street Reconstruction; plus local water and sewer improvement projects in Dayton and St. Francis.

“These tours have been an important opportunity for lawmakers to hear from local leaders, see proposed projects firsthand, and understand the infrastructure needs across Minnesota,” said Co-Chair Franson. “As we look ahead to next session, we remain focused on making responsible investments that strengthen communities and deliver long-term value to taxpayers.”
