State Senate Republicans passed a financing bill that involves tax, bonding and budget provisions, according to a Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus news release.
The bill includes $200 million for small businesses and farmers through conformity with Section 179 of the federal tax code. It also includes millions for Senate District 12, including $3.5 million for the City of Melrose as they work on their $11 million wastewater infrastructure project. It also includes $2 million to help with flood mitigation in Browns Valley.
“I’m ecstatic that cities in my district can look forward to furthering their important infrastructure and community projects with the bonding dollars in this bill," Sen. Torrey Westrom (R-Elbow Lake) said in the news release. "It will result in significant jobs and economic benefit from the provisions included in this bill."
The bill also provides money toward roads, bridges, wastewater projects in rural cities and other projects for a total of $1.87 billion across the state, according to the news release.
