Rep. Michelle Fischbach, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 7th district since 2021, addressed recent developments regarding the federal government shutdown in a series of posts on X between September 30 and October 1, 2025.
On September 30, Fischbach stated: "We voted to keep the government OPEN, to do our job and support the American people."
Later that day, she reiterated her position on fiscal responsibility: "Our priority is the American people. We've made many reforms to cut waste, fraud, and abuse this year and the Democrats want us to go backwards."
Following news of a government shutdown during the night of September 30 to October 1, Fischbach attributed responsibility to Democratic lawmakers: "The federal government officially was shut down during the night by the Democrats. House Republicans did our job. It is time for Democrats to drop their partisan politics and vote to pass the clean funding bill in the Senate to reopen the government."
Michelle Fischbach has served in Congress since replacing Collin Peterson in 2021. She previously held office in the Minnesota Senate from 2017 to 2018. Born in Woodbury, Minnesota in 1965 and currently residing in Regal, Fischbach holds degrees from St. Cloud State University (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
