Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) has responded to the recent arrest of an undocumented immigrant in Minnesota who has previous convictions for violent crimes. In a statement released from Saint Paul, Franson expressed concern about the effectiveness of the state's criminal justice system.

“This arrest shows what many Minnesotans already know. Our criminal justice system is failing to keep dangerous criminals off the streets. Too often, violent offenders are given second chances and go on to commit more crimes that put innocent people at risk. Minnesotans are tired of excuses. We need policies that prioritize victims over criminals, enforce our laws, and restore accountability in our justice system. I am grateful for the law enforcement officers who continue to do their jobs under difficult circumstances, and I will keep fighting for stronger public safety laws that protect our communities and uphold justice,” said Franson.

Franson emphasized her support for law enforcement and called for changes to state policies aimed at improving public safety.
